Saturday, March 19, 2016 – Curling With The Canada Japan Society

Experience the thrill of one of the world's oldest and most enjoyable winter sports. Sometimes referred to as the "roarin' game" or "grand old game", curling has long been a display of skill, teamwork and good sportsmanship, highlighted by its presence in the winter olympics. Whether you're completely new to the game or a seasoned veteran, come out and enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition and good fun at Bayview Golf and Country Club.

We have reserved 2 sheets at the venue and can accommodate a maximum of 16 people. The cost to participate will vary depending on the number of people who show up, but should not exceed $30 per person. The cost includes 30 minutes of instruction, followed by 2 hours of gametime. The club rental manager has asked that all participants wear appropriate clothing and refrain from bringing food or beverages into the curling area. You are recommended to wear layers of loose fitting clothes to allow mobility while keeping warm (the indoor temperature is around 7 degrees). A separate pair of indoor shoes with rubber soles is required to prevent the ice from getting dirty. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early so that everyone has enough time to change their shoes and we can begin on time.

February 4th, 2016 - Ichimokukai at Manpuku!

Luckily it’s not as cold as last year, but it’s still February, and there’s no better way to beat the winter chill than to warm up with some great Japanese food, drinks, and fun at the Canada Japan Society’s ICHIMOKUKAI!

Ichimokukai literally means the "first Thursday meeting" and since 1995 it has been the Canada Japan Society of Toronto's monthly social event, naturally on the first Thursday of every month. It is a great place to make new friends, practice your English and/or Japanese, informally network, learn more about life in Canada and Japan, and most of all have fun! Our attendees are usually around 50 percent Canadian and 50 percent Japanese, all with a common interest or connection with Japan. At IMK you will receive special food and drink discounts, get to talk to lots of interesting people, and have the chance to win some exciting door prizes.

We hope to see you there!

Come early to ensure a good seat!
